A genderfluid Pilipinx person with medium brown skin and wavy brown hair looks off into the distance and leans on their hand, which rests against their mouth. Behind them is a white wall with multicolored post-it notes.

Accessibility

Free Virtual Film Festival

Our Queer Women of Color Film Festival is always absolutely FREE of charge.

Our 2021 Virtual Film Festival will be hosted virtually again this year to allow us to include as many people as possible, such as those who can’t attend in person or are located internationally.

Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing

The 2021 Virtual Film Festival will be entirely open captioned. All our films have English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, and ASL Interpretation and CART/live open captions will be provided for the live, interactive filmmaker Q&As.

Safety & Care

We are taking the following steps to ensure that our Film Festival is a safe and welcoming space that engenders a sense of belonging for all who wish to attend.

Mandatory Ticket Registration

Only individuals who register for a FREE ticket will be able to view the virtual film screenings and Filmmaker Q&As.

Moderated Chat

The live chat and Filmmaker Q&A will be moderated. Anyone who engages in harassment or hate speech will be blocked, and their comments deleted.

Content Warnings

Content Warnings are listed for each film.

Crisis Counselors

Anyone who experiences intense emotional reactions (triggering, distress, anxiety, panic) during the Film Festival can call SFWAR’s free, confidential hotline for support, at 415-647-7273. The hotline’s answering service operator will connect you with the counselor-on-call.

If you need support in a language other than English, just tell the answering service operator and they will connect you with a Crisis Counselor who speaks that language. In some cases, a counselor may need to write down your contact information and call you back.

Fragrance-Free

Although our 2021 Film Festival will be hosted virtually, we wanted to include some Fragrance Free Resources below. When we gather for our Film Festival in-person, we offer Fragrance Free seating, work with the venue to use Fragrance Free non-toxic cleaning supplies, and request that audiences avoid wearing or using scented products.
